Clara Nguyen

Dr. Clara Nguyen is a double Bruin! She completed a dual degree in Human Biology and Society and Asian American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles then went on to earn her M.D. at the David Geffen School of Medicine. She is the daughter of Vietnamese refugees, which has led her to pursue psychiatry for Asian American groups. Her interests include actively volunteering in the community and donating her time to underserved communities, particularly refugee populations and those experiencing homelessness. Currently, Clara’s research involves sociopolitical intersections in medicine, mainly in how opioids affect vulnerable populations. When she is not working, she loves to play with her dogs and spend time with her husband.

Adele Huang

Adele graduated from UCLA with a degree in Human Biology and Society with a concentration in Public Health and Medicine. She graduated from Duke's Pathology Assistant program and now works in surgical and autopsy pathology. She is currently active in OCEAN as a campaign director. In her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, going to music festivals, punk shows, reading books and creating art. Her favorites places she has traveled to are Amsterdam, Ibiza, and Japan. One of her favorite things to do is eat, and she enjoys visiting different countries to try new cultural delicacies.

Jared Ortaliza

Jared graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a degree in Human Biology and Society and got his Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard-Kennedy School and got his PhD in Medical Anthropology from Stanford University. He has worked on a variety of public health issues, but his primary interests are in health care accessibility, particularly for undocumented and/or low-income communities. He is currently working for OCEAN as a policy director, helping push state and federal policy reform to mandate MAT and reduce the costs of life-saving medication, such as naloxone. In his free time, Jared works advocating for the Pilipino and Asian American community, hiking, climbing, and chilling at home with his two cats, Noodle and Kugel.

Minh Tran

Minh graduated from UCLA with a degree in Human Biology and Society with a concentration in Public Health and Medicine and a minor in Global Health. She is a graduate of Duke's Physician Assistant Program and is an emergency medicine and surgical PA. While currently pursuing her PhD in Global Health, she is working alongside OCEAN as a community health director, practicing evidence-based medicine that is dedicated to affected communities. She believes that collaborative interaction is necessary in the devotion for positive transformations within the healthcare system.  When she’s not working, she enjoys traveling and volunteering abroad with her husband and adding new recipes to their cookbook.
